Southern Water Fined over Langstone Harbour
Tuesday 19 April 2011
Southern Water have been fined £50,000 for 36 illegal discharges of raw sewage into Langstone Harbour.
Liberal Democrats have been pressing for action on these discharges and are appalled by the pollution incidents. The councillors are putting a motion to Full Council on Wednesday 20th April. The meeting starts at 5pm and will be held at Havant College as the Council Chamber at the Civic Offices are closed.
Councillor Ann Buckley, who is putting the motion, is concerned that the proposal for 6,300 new homes will worsen the problem with sewage in the harbour. Councillor Faith Ponsonby will second the motion.
