Thank you!
Monday 15 June 2009
Thanks to everyone for their support in the recent elections. It is a great honour to have been elected to serve on Hampshire County Council. Susan also did well but was unable to gain the other seat.
The result was:
| Richard Brown | Labour | 1,106 |
| Ann Buckley | Liberal Democrats |
2,531 hold |
| Tim Dawes | Green | 658 |
| Liz Fairhurst | Conservative |
2,363 gain from Labour |
| Raymond Finch | UKIP | 1,414 |
| George Herbert | English Democrats | 779 |
| Jim Phillips | Labour | 884 |
| Ken Smith | Conservative | 2,322 |
| Susan Stocker | Liberal Democrats | 1,791 |
| Turnout | 28% | |
We both found it a challenging campaign, particularly for the last few weeks when very little at all, apart from MP's expenses, was discussed on the doorstep.
The Liberal Democrats will continue to press for a better deal for both Bedhampton and Leigh Park; for better public transport, green action to combat climate change and proper resurfacing of our roads and pavements.
With best wishes,
Ann and Susan
