Janis never intends to leave the Island again, after moving here from Guildford 10 years ago. Her 2 children attended Hayling School, and the whole family love the quiet and the people on Hayling and Janis works as a Personal Secretary. Janis is angry about the increase in Council Tax, especially as pensioners are so badly affected, and wants the Council to listen more to the community. She would like to see better and cheaper public transport to and from the Island, not only for teenagers, but for easier access to QA Hospital.
A former governor of Mengham School, Margaret is concerned at the lack of facilities for youngsters on the Island, which leads to environmentally costly car journeys for teenagers and parents, as well as more vandalism. She also regrets the deterioration in local services such as doctors and dentists, postal services and shops, again leading to more traffic on and off the island. Margaret believes Increasing housing will put more pressure on the infrastructure, and also reduce holiday facilities.
