Antonia Harrison believes in fairness and balance in local politics for local people, not government by the state. Only this way can people see how politics is relevant to their everyday lives and choosing the right person to represent them can really make a difference.
As a Liberal Democrat, she is concerned about environmental matters whether that means improved recycling opportunities in the Borough or stopping the sewage being pumped from Budds Farm into Langstone Harbour.
Exasperated with the decline in Waterlooville Town Centre, she wants real action, not talk. The Liberal Democrat Councillors in neighbouring Portsmouth and Winchester bring real value and improvement to residents rather than status quo and complacency.
As a private mental health therapist, Antonia helps clients locally and abroad with psychological issues, anxiety, addictions, unwanted behaviours, phobias and lack of confidence. She works part-time in parish administration for local churches.
She worries about work and housing prospects, especially for the young and disabled and wants higher standards of education in local schools with a wider range of apprenticeships and further education choices throughout life.
Antonia moved to Portsmouth in 2012 and Purbrook in 2015 after working 16 years in Belgium and Spain. Her children were educated at Purbrook Park School and HSDC.
Following the resignation of a Conservative County Councillor in March ’23, we have a by-election to be held on the same day as the local Borough elections.
This is an exciting time as currently the Conservatives have control of Hampshire County Council and a Liberal Democrat win will reduce their strangle-hold on the county.
Those people who live in the Purbrook and Stakes South area will each have two votes to cast. The first will be for their respective borough election. The second will be for the county by-election.
Paul Tansom, our local Lib Dem champion, is standing in the Purbrook ward in the Borough elections and is also standing in the County Council by-election for Purbrook & Stakes South.
Antonia Harrison, our local Lib Dem champion, is standing in Stakes ward.
I have a survey to find out how the people in our are doing during this financial crisis. Please do consider completing it.
Thank you,
Paul Tansom
