Meet our local champions who are standing as Liberal Democrat candidates in this year's local elections in the Borough of Havant
Following the resignation of a Conservative County Councillor in March ’23, we have a by-election to be held on the same day as the local Borough elections.
This is an exciting time as currently the Conservatives have control of Hampshire County Council and a Liberal Democrat win will reduce their strangle-hold on the county.
Those people who live in the Purbrook and Stakes South area will each have two votes to cast. The first will be for their respective borough election. The second will be for the county by-election.
Paul Tansom, our local Lib Dem champion, is standing in the Purbrook ward in the Borough elections and is also standing in the County Council by-election for Purbrook & Stakes South.
Antonia Harrison, our local Lib Dem champion, will be standing in Stakes ward.
Havant Borough is divided into 14 wards, each represented by three councillors (two each in the wards covering Leigh Park and West Leigh). In May 2023 there are elections for 10 wards, highlighted in gold. Those that cover Leigh Park and West Leigh have no elections this year, unless someone stands down, in which case there will be a by-election.
These are the current wards. The Ward boundaries will change soon and a new Council will be elected in May 2024. We'll keep you informed about that nearer the time. For now, please feel free to read more here.
