The Conservatives lost 17 Havant Borough Council seats on 2nd May, which means that they lost control of the council for the first time since 2002.

On Wednesday 15th May, in an historic event for Havant, an alliance of Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green Party councillors took control of the council.

The Labour Group leader, Councillor Phil Munday said that he was looking forward to working with his new colleagues within the coalition and was proud and humbled to be elected as Leader of the Council.

Councillor Philippa Gray, Liberal Democrat Group leader and Deputy Leader of the Council believes that this will be an exciting time for our Borough. She says “There is much work to be accomplished but the new mix of councillors is a much better reflection of the range of views in Havant and, by collaborating with members of other parties, the Liberal Democrats will be able to drive real improvements for the residents of Havant.”
