The Liberal Democrats have selected Gayathri Sathyanath for Havant as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced a General Election.

Liberal Democrat candidate Gayathri Sathyanath will be campaigning for action to tackle the cost-of-living crisis, the NHS crisis and the sewage scandal.

As someone who is qualified with a postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Studies, Gayathri Sathyanath knows very well the environmental damage that Southern Water is causing by discharging raw sewage into Chichester and Langstone Harbours and the Solent.

Gayathri Sathyanath knows how hard it is for the people of Havant to get a GP appointment on the same day, with local practices struggling.

Finding a local Dentist is often very difficult and anyone moving to the area will often have to go private if they wish to get dental care.

In the recent local elections, the people of Havant managed to vote out a larger number of Conservative councillors than any other Borough within our local region. At the same time, the local Liberal Democrat party increased their seats on the council from 2 to 7, helping to leave just 4 conservative councillors in the constituency.

The Liberal Democrats are on the up after beating the Conservatives at the May local elections and winning four stunning parliamentary by-election victories since the last General Election.

Responding to Rishi Sunak calling a General Election, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Havant, Gayathri Sathyanath said:

“For years our area has been taken for granted by an out-of-touch Conservative Government that has failed to get the basics right and lurched from crisis to crisis - now it’s time for a change.

“Local health services have been brought to their knees, people’s mortgages and rent have skyrocketed and water companies have been allowed to pump their filthy sewage into our rivers and beaches. All this by a Conservative government more interested in fighting between themselves than standing up for the country.

“Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for a fair deal. It’s a vote for a party that will stand up for our community and our health services.”
