Meet your local champions who are standing as Liberal Democrat candidates in this year's local elections in the Havant Borough and the Police and Crime Commisioner election for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight on Thursday, 2nd May 2024.
Abolish the Police and Crime Commissioner and return policing to the professionals. Save local taxpayers millions each year.
More community police officers to work with local people. Tackling antisocial behaviour. End the racial disparity in stop and search.
Stop Hampshire being one of the worst funded police forces in the country. Reverse the decline in police numbers.
A Garden Poster is a great way to let people know that you support us and to remind people that the elections are happening soon. If you would like one.
Following the recent boundary changes across our Borough, all the council seats are up for re-election. One of the main reasons for this is to have a similar number of residents in each ward. With the growing number of new homes in the Borough over the years, this had become a little uneven.
Going forward, Havant Borough will now be divided into 12 wards. Each ward will be represented by 3 elected members. Previously this wasn't the case for every ward. The four wards which used to cover Leigh Park and West Leigh will go and are replaced by Leigh Park Hermitage and Leigh Park Centrol & West Leigh.
Once elected, whoever gets the most votes in any ward will remain in office for 4 years. Whoever comes second will remain in office for 3 years. The person who comes third will remain in office for 2 years. When their time in office is up, the next election for that ward will be for someone to remain in office for 4 years.
In December 2022, the Conservative-led government pushed through a law to require that everyone has a Voter ID.
Over 14,000 people were unable to vote on the day who turned up to vote.
If you don't currently have a suitable form of ID, it is possible to get one for free, but do it soon!
